Depending on your metabolic type you will have your own unique needs when it comes to balancing your intake of protein, carbs, and fats.</p><p>In other words, while everyone needs protein, some people need more protein than others, which explains why some people do well on a certain type of diet and others fail miserably. Once Isabel gives you this background info, you take a simple, 10-minute Metabolism Type test.</p><p>Finally, you&#8217;re given a chart that recommends the best food choices that support your needs for your metabolic type, which will result in a higher level of weight loss success.</p><p><strong>Step 2: Create Your Personal Meal Plan:</strong> From pages 13-15 Isabel reviews calories, what they are and how all calories are not created equal. She explains that depending on your Metabolic type, certain calories- such as refined carbs for instance -will add fat to some people, while having little negative impact on others. She then has you refer to your FOOD CHART from step 1, which includes portion sizes to help you plan balanced meals.</p><p>She then gives you a blank meal planner which allows you select your favorite &#8216;best foods&#8217; from the list and to plug them into the meal planner. This planning can be done weekly or daily but I would recommend doing it weekly and then using her shopping list and recipe guide to help you ensure a successful week. The planning process should only take about 1/2 hour per week &#8211; or no more than normal meal planning &#8211; once you are used to it.</p><p><strong>Step 3: Choose The Best Foods:</strong> From pages 16-96 the Isabel emphasizes the often-overlooked value of nutrient-rich foods, and how to refine your diet around the best possible choices for you. She explains that while you want to plan your selections around your best metabolic choices (in Step 2), that the quality of the food you select makes all the difference in your success.</p><p>Isabel goes into detail explaining why organic foods support more weight loss, the difference between raw, organic dairy, vs. pasteurized dairy, and other topics such as creating an alkaline environment in our body for optimal weight loss.</p><p>This is also where Isabel De Los Rios covers the foods that are keeping you fat, and explains why you need to remove these foods from your diet to get to a healthy weight and stay there. The premise of this information is that a healthy body automatically sheds fat more easily.</p><h3>Is Organic Food Necessary on The Diet Solution?</h3><p>While we agree that organic food is better for your body and the environment, and Isabel strongly suggests that you buy organics, it&#8217;s important to note that <strong>no evidence has been found (yet) that organic foods promote weight loss over conventional food</strong>. We recommend you read our brief review of 7 Minute Body at the end of this review before adding this upgrade.</p><h3>The Every Other Day Diet: The Basics</h3><p>The Every Other Day Diet focuses on two major diet concepts that work together: interval eating and the SNAPP System of Eating. Both concepts are summarized below:</p><p><strong>1) Interval Eating</strong> &#8211; This is the central concept of the Every Other Day Diet plan, where you alternate your caloric intake every other day, alternating between what the author terms &#8216;Burn Days&#8217; and &#8216;Feed Days&#8217;.</p><p>Here&#8217;s a rough outline of how interval eating works. First, you determine the calories you require for weight loss, using an online calculator that the author gives you. Then your first day of eating is a Burn Day: on this day you eat unprocessed, smaller meals, five times a day. The Burn Day is pretty calorie restricted, and gives you about 70% of your calories required to lose weight. For example, if you need 1,500 calories per day to lose weight, on the Burn Day you&#8217;d only eat about 1,000 calories.</p><p>The second day is a Feed Day, where you eat pretty much the same plan as the Burn Day, except that you are allowed to eat whatever you want at the lunch time meal. For example, you could eat lasagne, a burger and fries, or whatever you can eat reasonably within a half hour period. (In other words, no going back to a buffet three times and dragging out lunch). On your Feed Day you might consume 1,900 calories, but the bulk of those calories will come at lunch time.</p><p>After two days, you start all over again. Using alternating Burn Days and Feed Days your total caloric intake for the week will still come out low enough so you&#8217;ll lose weight. For example, if you need to normally eat 1500 calories per day, to lose weight,  you would still arrive at those 1,500 calories per day when averaged out over the week.</p><p>The obvious question here is, since calorie restriction is central to this plan, how do you track your caloric intake? That&#8217;s where the SNAPP System of Eating comes in.</p><p><strong>2. The SNAPP System of Eating</strong> &#8211; The SNAPP acronym refers to the diet plan where you eat five meals per day, and where your calories are automatically restricted. The SNAPP plan also allows you to easily memorize the meal schedule, by using the letters in SNAPP.</p><p>Let&#8217;s look at the meal plan. We don&#8217;t want to divulge too much, but for example, the S stands for a balanced Shake, which is your first meal of the day, and has a balanced recipe included. The rest of the letters signify foods that you&#8217;ll eat for the remaining four meals of the day. Most of the five meals are whole, unprocessed foods, except for the &#8216;cheat&#8217; lunchtime meals on the Feed Days, where you can have whatever you like.</p><p>Next, we look at the portion or calorie control that SNAPP offers. Rather than counting calories,  the author gives you a few calculations that you memorize. For example, let&#8217;s say your average meal is 200 calories, and one of the meals includes nuts. The author tells you to measure the nuts just once, so going forward you automatically know how many nuts you can eat during that meal. Of course, all of his calculations tie to your particular caloric weight loss requirements.</p><p><strong>Putting it all together</strong> &#8211; The important features of the plan are its ease of use and its flexibility. When you combine the interval eating and the SNAPP system, your metabolism remains at its&#8217; optimal fat burning level, while allowing you to enjoy some of your favorite foods every other day.</p><h3>The EODD Bonuses:</h3><p>There are six bonus eBooks included in the Every Other Day Diet EODD package, plus the Radical Fat Loss Blueprint. They aren&#8217;t written by the author, as has partnered with various fitness and weight loss experts who have each written one of the books. That being said, they do bring excellent nutritional and fitness information, and complement the EODD plan.</p><p>I also read through the Radical Fat Loss Blueprint, which the author did write. It&#8217;s a separate diet for the super committed &#8211; those who want to lose 21 pounds in 21 days, and are willing to commit to a radical dietary and fitness plan in order to accomplish this goal. I guess this is because the 4 idiots diet name sounded unprofessional, and I&#8217;d also read some bad press about the diet&#8217;s extravagant claims for super fast weight loss. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the Idiot Proof Diet after reading the material.</p><p>Fat Loss 4 Idiots actually offers 3 different &#8216;levels&#8217; for you to choose from, depending on how fast you want to lose weight, and how committed you are to following a plan.</p><h3>Fat Loss 4 Idiots Level 1:</h3><p><strong>Losing weight slowly to moderately: The 45 page Diet Handbook offers the simplest and most basic level where you follow the 10 Rules for weight loss.</strong> The handbook is easy to read and is designed for those who want to begin losing weight but aren&#8217;t ready to follow a strict diet plan. You have probably come across most of the 10 Rules that this level advocates, such as drinking adequate water, walking daily, and cutting down on soda, processed foods, and alcohol.</p><p>So what&#8217;s new? Mostly the combination of Calorie Shifting and Carb/Protein Rotation. Both of these strategies have been around for a while, but Fat Loss for Idiots puts them together in an easy-to-follow and hopefully easy-to-stick to plan.</p><p>In case you aren&#8217;t familiar with Calorie Shifting here are the basics. You don&#8217;t count calories; instead you break your food down into 4+ meals per day. This shifting fools your metabolism into burning more of your stored fat, while allowing you to eat more calories than you normally would be able to.</p><p>With Carb/Protein Rotation you are actually using the food combining principle. Here you rotate different food combinations throughout certain meals, which helps to manipulate fat burning as well.</p><p>To assist you in following the Calorie Shifting and Carb/Protein Rotation, you are given 2 lists of foods to select from, and then given a daily schedule. You follow the schedule until you have reached your goal weight or you want to take a day off from the plan. Also, you are encouraged to walk for 45 minutes a day. You are told that if you follow these 10 rules you will begin to lose weight steadily and moderately within a few days, at about 1-2 pounds per week.</p><h3>Fat Loss 4 Idiots Level 2 (Most popular plan):</h3><p><strong>Losing weight quickly.</strong> You follow this plan by using the Diet Generator, which automatically plans your meals based on a list of food choices that you select. You stay on the plan for 11 days, taking 3 days off in between and then starting all over again.</p><p>This plan is the one that most people use when following Fat Loss 4 Idiots, as the Diet Generator takes the guesswork out of selecting food choices. You still eat 4 meals a day, and follow all the same rules as you would with Level 1, but you get a longer &#8216;cheat period&#8217; of 3 days. You do not need to exercise in this plan, but it is encouraged of course.</p><p>Assuming you follow it closely, you can expect to lose 5-9 pounds in 11 days. For simplicity we recommend that you go with this diet to start. If you stay on it for more than a month, you may get bored with food choices that the generator gives you, but at that point you can change over to the Level 1 plan for more variety.</p><h3>Fat Loss 4 Idiots Level 3 (Ultimate Package Only):</h3><p><strong>The 10 Day High Speed Diet!</strong> This bonus level is contained in Beyond Calories, a special 28 page Diet Handbook. This variation on the plan follows the same principles as the other 2 levels, with the following differences:</p><ol><li>It allows you to have 6 smaller meals per day</li><li>It focuses on glycemic index foods</li><li>has a more strict food combining approach</li></ol><p>The level 3 plan does not use the Diet Generator, and instead gives you lists and a schedule to choose from for combining foods/meals similar to the Level 1 plan. You do not need to exercise on this plan, but it is encouraged of course.</p><p>On the High Speed plan you&#8217;re supposed to be able to lose up to 9 pounds in 10 days. Once you complete the 10-day cycle you can take a day or two off and start over again if you wish to lose more weight, but you may want to check with a medical professional before following it for too long.</p><h3>Fat Loss 4 Idiots Pros:</h3><ul

First, eat 5 times a day to keep your metabolism up. Don&#8217;t starve yourself! Second, no more salt, sugar, donuts (a whole page on this), simple carbs, and saturated fats. Hey, we get it, it&#8217;s tough to lose weight eating deep fat fried dough balls. Finally, eat carbs but stick to the complex carbs such as spelt, quinoa, oatmeal, and sweet potatoes. If you&#8217;re unfamiliar with spelt and quinoa then think of this as a chance to expand your horizons. We really like both as they add texture and flavor to your meals.</p><p>The meal/diet generator is the core of the plan and we had 2 weeks worth of meals printed out in about 10 minutes. The program also gives you a printable grocery list and a list of approved condiments to spice up your meals. Other than that make sure to move every day. You do this by eating six times a day and eliminating simple carbs. This keeps your body from insulin spikes that trigger fat storage and also makes your body burn stored fat.</p><p>You begin the first phase of the diet with a ‘cheat day’ and then move into 18 days of eating proteins, fats, and lots of veggies which you can eat at any time. (With plenty of healthy veggies, Cheat Your Way Thin isn’t a strict &#8216;low carb&#8217; program.) On day 19 you get another cheat day which you’ll no doubt appreciate by then!</p><p>Day 20 kicks off the 2nd phase of the plan where you reintroduce beans and whole grains. That being said, losing weight always takes some work and Joel does a good job of explaining the nutritional science that makes this diet work.
